Ideas Of Enlightment

What is the truth? Is it our ability to reason that lead us toward the truth? The philosophers Mill and Huxley would argue that our ability to reason leads human beings towards a positive, progressively modern world. In opposition to this optimistic view are the philosophers Nietzsche and Dostoevsky: who believe that despite our ability to reason, the progress we are making is not positive, and in fact, is a regression that ignores the natural impulses of human beings. While both sides present conflicting point of views, there is one truth that remains consistent: we live in a world that contains both perspectives. Modern society can be considered a valuable asset for human kind, while at the same time, can also be considered detrimental to human life. Now that philosophers have realized modern progress can provide humanity with positive and negative results, society seems to have come to a fork in the road. Is our progress through science and reason really the start of our downfall, or does our progress actually make our lives more pleasurable?

The philosopher John Mill believed that the progress modern society has made is positive. Based on his fundamental belief that an individual should involve himself with what makes

Spiritual Enlightment

To me, enlightenment is living consciously and knowing that you don't KNOW... and being open to all impossibilities.

Spiritual Enlightment
Spiritually enlightened means sensing auras surrounding you or others (Human, animals, birds or any living things which breathe). Also, feeling a oneness with the universe or say the lord above. My experience of spiritual enlightment is when a human chants sanskrit slokas or if you have done Reiki symbols it clears a humans vision by automatically clearing the blocks which are built within us over a period, may be it goes till past life also. In prayers, especially Indians, those who chant the sanskrit Mantras, it automatically clears the mind blocks and allows a human to visualise through the auras as well as analyize the spiritual energy that guides them.

True Enlightenment - Human Plane of Spirituality

Enlightenment is the ultimate goal of existence. Enlightenment is the state of being and living by which one can experience supreme freedom, absolute power and the highest happiness. But there are many paths to achieving the state of enlightenment. Not all paths are equally good. Each path may only get you to experience a certain level of enlightenment. The level of enlightenment that a person achieves may not be true enlightenment because there are higher levels than that. Only the highest is true.

The eastern philosophical way of attaining enlightenment by denying the ego and getting rid of desires is a form of enlightenment. But it is not the true enlightenment. They believe that in order to experience the true Self, one has to shed the false self by realizing there is no ego. They believe that an enlightened being is without ego and desire. What they have is only half the truth combined with untruth. Enlightenment is transcending the ego but that does not mean denying the ego. To transcend is to go beyond.

Enlightenment that comes from denying the ego and ridding oneself of desire is actually touching the mineral or vegetative plane of the spiritual dimension. They are not touching the human plane, which is a more true form of enlightenment. There are different planes of the spiritual dimension. An enlightened consciousness is one that transcends the physical plane. It is also a spiritual consciousness. You can become spiritual by transcending physicality, but that doesn’t mean you are fully enlightened.

Robet Suit

Robet Suit
A consortium of 30 Japanese companies are planning on working together (yeah, like that ever happens) to produce a robot exoskeleton that can be worn by the infirm, elderly or handicapped people. A prototype of HAL-3 (Hybrid Assistive Legs) has been developed by Yoshiyuki Sankai, professor and engineer at Tsukuba University. Developers hope that by the time these devices come to market, they will be "thin enough to be worn like underwear and will allow users to run and move...freely."

Everlasting Flight, Here We Come...

Everlasting Flight, Here We Come...
New Scientist: For the first time a solar-powered plane has flown through two consecutive nights, UK defence research company QinetiQ claims. In a secretive weekend mission, their craft Zephyr took off from a US military base in New Mexico and landed 54 hours later. The solar craft seems to have taken the next hop towards everlasting flight...

The Origins of the Rocket Belt

The Origins of the Rocket Belt
Speaking of rocket belts, I just put up a piece I did for Discovery Online in 1997, for their Alt.Tech column, which I contributed to for awhile. Called "Blow Your Socks Off," it tells the story of the development of the original Bell Rocket Belt. There are even a couple of nifty short movies, with that kind of "Gee Whiz, Jimmy" ''60s space age narrative that we all know and love.

Flying Car

Flying Car
After seeing the train wreck (or more accurately, robot wreck) that was the first DARPA Grand Challenge, with out-of-control robot rovers ditching themselves in the desert, is the idea of a similarly-styled flying car challenge a good one? NASA thinks so. According to a piece on Luxist, the space agency has announced a Personal Air Vehicle Challenge. While the grand prize for the DARPA Challenge is now set at US$2 million, NASA's only ponying up 250 Gs. Maybe that's 'cause they'll need the rest of the cash for hardened bunker construction. "INCOMING!"
